Pretty board question…but “record labels” are companies inside the big distribution company. For example, Universal is the big company but they marketing and distribute such “records labels” as DefJam
,Rocafella,Interscope,Motown to name a few.
They are millions of “record labels” but only a few are distributes via the big company. Last thing there are only 4 big companies/distribution WEA,SonyBmg,Universal,EMI
